Musings October 15, 2016.
I just returned from my first “travel” show – Kentuck Festival of the Arts. It was a wonderful experience. We had beautiful weather and a super reception to my work.
It’s always fun to watch people who see my art for the first time. I usually try to stand back while they look, but cannot stop myself from talking for long! Most people are even more interested when they discover it’s all recycled. I love going where no one else goes, and the challenge to me is really fun.
At Kentuck I was awarded a Patrons Award Ribbon by Vivian Wright. She loved my work and welcomed me to the show. Vivian has been very actively involved in the Folk Art Scene for a long time, and I am proud to have added one of my pieces to her wonderful collection.
As always, every locality has different tastes, and this is true of Tuscaloosa. Trees outsold fish – dark frames trumped light colored frames.
All in all a wonderful show.
